intorduction to Filmmaking and restorative journalism Workshops

These workshops are designed to introduce photo and video skills with fun creative challenges, and incorporate restorative justice circles and meditation.  

• Each unit lasts for 5 Wednesdays and ends in a portfolio day and celebration. Workshops can be taken as a series or independently, and in any order. Open to all ability levels - no experience is necessary 

• Completion of a unit makes you eligible to enter our freelance training and paid job placements. 

• Workshops take place near Union Square in Manahttan at 15 Rutherford Place, NY NY 10003

• These are open to anyone age 17-25 (some exceptions granted). Priority given to those directly-impacted by the criminal justice system. 

• Note: there is no longer a stipend for these workshops, however Echoes provides metrocards and a shared meal each session.

Echoes Professional Filmmaking Pathways

This 4-month intermediate filmmaking training is designed to prepare participants for paid freelance work with The Echoes Collective. The "Pathways" program will provide intensive production training as well as supported placements in real work-for-hire jobs, with mentoring by both older crew and industry professionals. This training is designed for participants who have already taken an Echoes summer camp or intro training, but some exceptions may be granted.
